Who Can Get Involved

In My Shoes is always looking to extend our community, whether you are a youth, alumnus, an ally or you know someone who is, we need your help to be able to sustain the services we provide to young people in foster care and in our community.

Opportunities for Youth

Youth in our program can self refer; however, they must ultimately have approval from their guardian before they can participate.

There are four main opportunities a youth can be referred to participate in; our One-On-One Mentoring Program, Group Mentoring Program, Events, and/or Advisory Board. Although our events are part of our programs we offer youth, typically our events are by invitation only. However, if you would like to participate on a committee or  would like to participate in one of our events, you may contact us directly for more information.

Each of the youth opportunities have their own referral form. To participate in an activity, we must have the correct form on file.

Opportunities for Alumni

Whether you are referring yourself of someone you know, there are many ways to volunteer and be involved with In My Shoes. 

In My Shoes is always looking for alumni to help out in several different areas. There are five main volunteer opportunities an alumnus can apply be a part of: One-On-One Mentoring Program, Group Mentoring Program, Events and/or Advisory Board.

Starting the process to become a mentor, committee member, advisory board member or board member is easy! All you need to do is fill out a volunteer interest form and we will contact you within 24 hours of receiving your form. You can also contact us and we can help you get started!
